What is Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a noninvasive imaging technology used to look the retina and optic nerve in fine detail.

No radiation or X-rays are used in this test, an OCT scan does not hurt and it is not uncomfortable.

A healthy retina is very thin, but it contains many layers. OCT provides excellent visualization of these layers, and helps in the diagnosis and treatment of many retinal diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
